For more than a decade, I’ve been working to make American healthcare more customer-driven and, ultimately, more affordable.

This mission started in 2007 with a personal catalyst: the death of my father due to a hospital error.

I’ve written articles and books about what’s wrong with our system.

Now with some talented and equally passionate colleagues, I’m launching Sesame as a practical solution to many of the challenges people face trying to get high-quality care for a fair price.

A marketplace for the uninsured

Sesame is a marketplace for health services where customers pay upfront for care.

With Sesame, people who are uninsured get fair prices for services because they’re paying in cash before they see the doctor. When physicians don’t have to deal with hassles of insurance, the patient gets a more affordable price.

You’ll see a full range of services on Sesame — well outside what is typically seen online. From preventative and chronic care to physical therapy, dental services, and more, we’re proud to offer a wide range of care options at transparent prices.

Sesame is more than just appointments

Use Sesame to find individual services, bundles, or subscriptions for recurring healthcare needs.

Buy bundles of acne management appointments, sleep management care, or a package of back pain care at prices you won’t find anywhere else. We’re making it possible for people to see a primary care doctor for $50 or an orthopedist for $125.

No surprise bills, no hidden costs. Just great doctors offering their services at fair, transparent prices.

Sesame is good for doctors too

The flexibility of the Sesame platform allows doctors to offer great prices and excellent care in ways previously unavailable to them. Providers can fill last-minute cancellations or newly expanded office hours and offer special packages of care, tests, and treatments. And pre-paid direct care greatly reduces doctors’ overhead and collection costs, which means they can pass on more affordable rates to direct-pay customers.
